History
Before LiquidFiles was formed, Allard Consulting was workin with security consulting in 1999 and over the years built numerous custom installations of firewalls, mail servers, network monitoring systems, IPsec vpn concentrators, and other purpose built systems. We've also assisted in protocol design and validation and similar design tasks. In 2003 that knowledge was used to launch our first product — a web based interface to the OpenBSD firewall pf. Later on we launched a mail server which now has been spawned into the open source mail server Mailserv.
A lot of customers started asking to increase the maximum attachment size in the mail server, which used the by then industry standard 20 Mb. A lot of customers had a lot larger files to send. Even if the mail server could be tweaked to increase the size, we knew that it would be rejected by most other mail servers anyway. But these requests was the launchpad and we decided to build a large file transfer appliance to solve this issue. LiquidFiles was launched on the 26th of October, 2008.
About LiquidFiles
Today all focus is to create LiquidFiles as the absolute best Large File Transfer appliance it can be. The goal from the start has been to create great, affordable and easy to use systems, the kind that we wanted to use ourselves. We wanted something that was simple to install and get up and running. Easy and intuitive to use and configure, yet powerful for power users who wanted to dig a bit deeper, and flexible enough to be integrated into most environments as possible.
Quick Facts
A couple of quick facts about who we are and what we do:
- We believe that great software is easy to use, and that too many options will limit, rather then assist, the usability of a solution.
- We build software, systems and virtual appliances that we use ourselves. The evolvement over time is purely based on feedback from customer who use the products in their companies and organisations.
- We believe in the power of defaults and that great software needs to be secure by default.
- Software and system should be easy to install with powerful options available for power users.
